super big thank you to @yellowflicker09011996 who tagged me in this wonderful chance for self-promotion. i love you even if this account refuses to let you tag it :p

1. What is your favorite sentence you’ve ever written? Why?

oh jesus, i’ve got no idea? i have this tendency to write things and then totally forget about them, so not a whole lot is really coming to mind. you’re in my blood was a fun one to write though and one that, as far as words and the flow and how sentences are strung together, is one of my favorites.

additionally, i’m really proud of the poem so, you fell in love with a meteorite.

“you have blades for hands and a wolf living,
growling in your throat; you were
not made to become a shelter for meteorites
but this planet was not made
for girls that fall like stars.”

2. Are there words, phrases, or images that you return to in your writing?

heh, almost definitely. i lean heavily on a lot of imagery and metaphorical value. i probably compare too many things to sunshine and watercolors. once my mind fixates on a particular thing it’ll pop up everywhere in my writing.

3. There’s that saying about how good writers just up and steal stuff. Have you ever read anything so good that you just had to have it and put it in what you were writing? What was it? What would you want someone to steal from you?

oh, definitely. i get a lot of my inspiration from poets, and every so often i’ll read a particular word i haven’t seen in a while and know i have to use it in something. there are times when i can go back and reread something and know exactly the poem or author i was reading at the time.

or even just the way people write sometimes, the ways they work around words and string together sentences will make an impression on me and i’ll have to try it out. it’s so fascinating to me the things that other people come up with and the ways they say things or structure a piece and the way that affects how the reader processes it.

if anyone finds any inspiration in my work at all, i would be beyond flattered.

4. Multi-chapter fic or one-shot? When writing multi-chapter (if you do), do you plan everything ahead and then write, or do you just write as you go along?

i’m very much a one-shot kinda gal. my attention span is pretty short, and so unless something really seriously grabs me, either with reading or writing, it’s not likely that i’ll ever see it through if it’s super long. i did recently post the first chapter of my first multi-chap fic, bad intentions, and it’s one that i’ve had a lot of fun with.

i don’t ever like to plan everything out, i’d rather go in with a broad strokes kind of idea of things and then flesh it out as i go, otherwise i’ll get bored with it before i ever get it written. i tend to write in bits and pieces, so usually i start with a handful of random scenes in a vague chronological order and then just write to connect them from there.

5. What motivates you to continue a fic you’ve already started and shared?

often times it’s simply my own fascination with an idea and what my mind is having fun with. feedback helps a lot, though. i love when people get excited about the things i write and throw out there, so i always love to feed back into that.

another thing that always surges me on, probably the most of anything, is sharing it with the handful of friends i have that will discuss things at length with me and feed back into my creativity with it. we’ll often end up uncovering little gems and ideas i never thought about and then it’s fun to share what you write with the people that inspired it.

6. Is there anything in your writing you’d like to change or improve?

i’m learning now to write at length, extend ideas and scenes past the bare bones that i’m comfortable writing in. also, dialogue. i’m not usually very good with dialogue- a lot of my writing leans towards feelings and imagery and not much that’s palpable.

7. Is the fic you like to read the same as the fic you like to write?

i’ll read just about anything, and while i’m more selective about what i’ll write, the actual genres of it all don’t really know any bounds. i’ll read or write pretty much whatever captures my attention.

8. How many fandoms do you write for? Are they all for one medium (television, book, film, etc.) or more than one? If more than one, is there a different feeling to writing for one as opposed to another?

i’m only just now getting to a point where i can write for a character without needing to have an intimate knowledge of them. i’ve branched out in the past year or so with drabbles and various smaller pieces for characters and ships i’ve never written before and that’s been really fun. still, i’m the kind that tends to pick one thing and stick to it for a while so at any given point most of my writing will be about one ship or character in particular.

as far as mediums, i think i’ve written for most all of them at some point. tv, film, books, comics. lately it’s been centrally tv, and i think i wrote an america/kate drabble or two in the past several months.

the feelings of them all are always different. some characters fit better for me with a looser writing style (ex, clexa or amerikate tend towards a more easy-going feel for me, whereas ships like olicity usually surface only with more weighted pieces). it’s hard to explain how each character and each dynamic or combination of characters and even each au or setting just has a different feel, but they do. it affects the way i write them and the ways i structure things or string together sentences.

9. Is there something that you want to write that  you haven’t yet? What’s stopping you?

i’ve always wanted to write for natasha at length, i’ve done so in drabbles but never anything further. she’s a sacred kind of character for me and i feel weird trying to capture her in words, though i know i could probably do it well enough if i set my mind to it. there’s been half a poem about her sitting in my google docs account for months now that i just can’t get anywhere with.

au’s were also something i struggled with for a long time, but i think i’m finally getting to an acceptable point with them. as well as multichap fics and pieces with, like, an actual plot. i struggle a lot with actually moving a story forward and keeping everything flowing in the right way, but i’m working on it.

10. What’s the one no-good trope that’s #problematic that you just can’t break up with?

everything i write is so damn piecey and i have zero skills at transitioning from scene to scene so i just break everything up with six thousand line breaks and hope it reads halfway decently.

also i’m basically incapable of writing fluff. it happens once in a blue moon. i should get better about that. more positivity and senseless fluff for all.

11. Post a link to one of your fics that you think has been overlooked and would like for more people to check out! :)

i’m gonna go with cut like diamonds because it’s one i put a ton of work into and didn’t get much feedback on.

also bad intentions, which is new and hasn’t even had a chance to be overlooked or anything but i’m proud of it and people should read it ok
